Today we're discussing the impact of urban green spaces on mental health. A recent study followed 2,000 residents in three cities over five years. Participants who visited parks weekly reported 20% lower stress levels. Interestingly, the size of the green space mattered less than the frequency of visits. Even small community gardens had significant benefits. However, the effect was stronger for people who engaged in physical activity there, like jogging or cycling. The study also noted that access to green spaces reduced symptoms of anxiety, but only when the spaces were within a 10-minute walk from home. So, proximity is crucial.
