In today's geology lecture, we'll discuss how glaciers shape landscapes. A key term is 'erosion,' which occurs when moving ice scrapes away rock and soil. This process can create U-shaped valleys, unlike rivers which form V-shaped ones. Another important feature is a 'moraine,' a ridge of debris deposited at the glacier's edge. For example, when a glacier retreats, it leaves behind a terminal moraine, marking its furthest advance. Interestingly, the rate of erosion depends on the glacier's speed and the hardness of the bedrock. Faster glaciers over soft rock erode more quickly. Now, let's consider a case study from Norway, where glacial erosion has carved deep fjords over millions of years.
❓ According to the lecture, what is one result of glacial erosion mentioned?
