TOEFL Speaking Task 2

Campus Announcement: The university has decided to extend the library's hours to 24/7 during the final exam period. This change will begin on the first day of finals week and last through the last day of exams. The administration believes this will provide students with more flexibility and reduce stress during this critical time.

Sarah: Did you hear about the library staying open all night during finals? I think it's a great idea. I'm always stressed about finding a quiet place to study late. With my part-time job, I can only start studying after 8 PM, so this gives me so much more time. Tom: I see your point, but I'm not so sure. I heard they might cut evening hours at the gym to pay for the extra staff. That would be a bummer since I like to work out after classes. Also, I'm worried about noise at night—if more people are there, it might be harder to concentrate. Sarah: Actually, they said they'd have more study rooms and enforce quiet zones even stricter. And for the gym, I think they're just adjusting the schedule temporarily. To me, the 24/7 option is worth it. I have two big papers due, and I know I'll need those extra hours. Tom: Maybe you're right. But I still think it could get too crowded, and I prefer studying in my dorm anyway. I just worry it's not the best use of resources.
