TOEFL 말하기 Task 2

Starting next semester, the university library will extend its opening hours during finals week. The library will remain open 24 hours a day from the Sunday before finals until the Thursday of finals week. Additionally, a new quiet study floor will be added on the fourth floor to accommodate students who prefer a silent environment. The administration believes these changes will help reduce stress and improve academic performance.

Woman: Did you see the announcement about the library? I think it’s fantastic! I always struggle to find a quiet place to study during finals. Having the library open all night means I can work at my own pace without worrying about being kicked out at midnight. Also, the new quiet floor is perfect for me. I get so distracted by people typing or whispering on the other floors. This will really help me focus. Man: I see your point, but I’m not so sure. The library is already crowded during finals, and extending hours might not be enough. I mean, it’s still going to be packed. Plus, the quiet floor might fill up quickly too. But I guess it’s better than nothing. Woman: Well, I think it will make a big difference. I often have to leave at 10 PM because that’s when the library closes, and I lose my momentum. With 24-hour access, I can stay as late as I need. And the quiet floor will definitely reduce noise. I’m really happy about this change.
