TOEFLスピーキング Task 2

Campus Announcement: The university will extend library hours during finals week from the current 10 PM closing to 2 AM. This change aims to provide more study space for students preparing for exams. Additional staff will be hired to manage the extended hours, and security will be increased for student safety.

M: Did you see the email about the library staying open until 2 AM during finals? I think it's a great idea. W: Really? I'm not so sure. It seems like a waste of money to hire extra staff for just one week. M: But think about it—many students, including me, have group projects and need a quiet place late at night. The current closing time forces us to leave when we're in the middle of studying. W: I get that, but what about the students who live off-campus? They might feel pressured to stay late and then have trouble getting home safely. M: The announcement says they're increasing security, so that should address your concern. And for me, the extra hours are a lifesaver because I can't focus in my dorm with my roommate's noise. W: I suppose, but I still think the money could be better spent on more books or updated computers. M: I see your point, but for me, having a productive study space is more important right now.
