TOEFL Speaking Task 2

Campus Announcement: The university will extend the library's hours to 24/5 (Sunday evening through Friday evening) starting next month. The administration believes this change will better accommodate students' diverse study schedules, especially during exam periods. Additionally, the library will hire more part-time student assistants to manage the extended hours, providing additional on-campus job opportunities.

M: Did you see the announcement about the library being open all night during the week? I'm thrilled! I'm a night owl, and I always struggle to find a quiet place to study after 10 PM. My roommate is always asleep, and the dorm lounge is too noisy. This means I can finally get serious work done when I'm most productive. W: I get that, but I'm worried about the cost. Hiring more student assistants will be expensive. I heard the university might cut funding for some student clubs to pay for it. That would hurt a lot of students who rely on those clubs for community and activities. M: Actually, the announcement says they're hiring students for those shifts, so it's a win-win. Plus, they're not cutting clubs; they're using reserve funds. And think about how many students, like me, will benefit from the extended hours during finals. I think it's worth it.
