TOEFL Speaking Task 2

Campus Notice: Starting next semester, the university will require all first-year students to live in on-campus dormitories. This policy aims to foster a stronger sense of community and improve academic support. Additionally, the university will increase the meal plan options to include more flexible and healthier choices. Students will have the option to choose from three meal plan tiers.

Woman: Did you see the new housing policy? I'm not happy about it. Forcing all freshmen to live on campus seems too restrictive. Some students, like my brother, prefer to live with relatives nearby to save money. He would have hated being forced into a dorm. Man: I see your point, but I actually think it's a good idea. Freshmen often struggle with adjusting to college life, and living on campus can help them make friends and find study groups more easily. Woman: That's true, but what about the meal plans? They say they're flexible, but I've heard the tiered options are still pricey. My cousin, a freshman, found that even the cheapest plan cost more than cooking for herself. She ended up wasting a lot of food. Man: Well, I think the meal plan variety is a plus. It caters to different budgets and dietary needs. But I agree the cost could be an issue. Still, overall, the community benefit seems worth it.
