TOEFL 말하기 Task 2

Campus Notice: The university will extend the library's weekday hours from 10 p.m. to midnight starting next semester. The administration states that this change aims to accommodate students who need late-night study spaces, especially during exam periods. Additionally, the extended hours will be supported by increased student fees, which will be used to hire additional staff and ensure security.

Woman: Did you see the announcement about the library staying open later? I'm really excited about it! I often have to leave at 10 p.m. just when I'm in the zone. Two more hours would make a huge difference for my late-night study sessions. Man: Hmm, I see the benefit, but I'm not so sure. The extra fee is a problem for me. Not everyone can afford to pay more, and I don't think it's fair to charge all students for something only some will use. Woman: But think about it—those extra hours are crucial during finals. And the fee is small, like $20 per semester. I think it's worth it for the peace of mind and the secure environment. Plus, the library will be less crowded, so I can actually find a seat. Man: I get that, but still, I think there are other ways to support students, like using existing funds. Forcing everyone to pay seems unnecessary.
