TOEFL Speaking Task 2

Campus Announcement: Extended Library Hours During Finals Week. Starting next Monday, the main library will be open 24 hours a day through the end of finals. This change is intended to provide students with more flexible study spaces during the busiest time of the semester. Additional staff will be on duty overnight to ensure safety and maintain a quiet environment. Please note that the 24-hour access will apply only to the main library, not to branch libraries.

M: Did you see the announcement about the library staying open 24 hours during finals? I think it's a great idea. I always pull all-nighters before exams, and it's annoying when the library kicks everyone out at midnight. Now I can actually spread out my books and not worry about packing up in the middle of studying. W: True, but I'm a bit concerned about the cost. They said they're adding overnight staff. That must be expensive. Maybe they could have just extended the hours to 2 a.m. instead of going all night. M: But for students like me who work during the day, having the whole night is essential. Plus, the quiet atmosphere is way better than my noisy dorm. Also, I heard they're using student workers for those shifts, so it's actually creating more on-campus jobs. That's a win-win. W: I hadn't thought about the jobs part. That does make it more positive. Okay, I can see why you support it so strongly.
