TOEFL Speaking Task 2

Campus Dining Hall to Add Late-Night Options Starting Next Month. Beginning next month, the main dining hall will extend its hours until midnight on weekdays, offering a limited menu of salads, sandwiches, and hot meals. The university hopes this change will accommodate students with late classes and study sessions. The extended hours will be funded by a small increase in meal plan fees, which will cover additional staff and food costs.

M: Did you see the announcement about the dining hall staying open later? I think it's a great idea. W: Really? I'm not so sure. The extra fee on our meal plans is a problem. I already struggle with my budget, and this will make it harder. M: But think about the benefits. I often have evening labs that end at 10 p.m., and I'm hungry. Now I can get a real meal instead of just snacks from vending machines. W: I understand, but I don't think everyone needs it. Most students finish classes by 6 or 7. And the limited menu might not be worth the cost. M: Still, for students like me, it's a lifesaver. Plus, the salad and sandwich options are healthy, which is better than fast food. W: I see your point, but I believe the fee increase is unfair, especially for those who won't use the late-night service. Maybe they should only charge students who opt in.
