TOEFL Speaking Task 2

Campus Notice: The university will extend the library's hours to 24/5 (Sunday through Thursday) starting next semester. This change aims to accommodate students' late-night study needs, especially during exam periods. Additional funding has been allocated to hire more student assistants and enhance security measures during overnight hours.

Woman: Did you see the notice about the library staying open 24/5? I think it's a great idea! Finally, I can pull all-nighters during finals without worrying about getting kicked out at midnight. Man: I see your point, but I'm not so sure it's necessary. Most students don't actually study that late, and it might just encourage procrastination. Plus, think about the extra costs for staffing and security. Woman: But that's exactly why it's worth it—they're hiring more student assistants, so it creates jobs for students. And with exams, many of us have different schedules; I know plenty of people who work or have late classes and need those extra hours. It's a practical solution to a real problem. Man: Hmm, I hadn't considered the job aspect. Still, I worry about safety and noise for those who live in nearby dorms. Woman: They've added security, so that's handled. And the library is far enough from dorms. Honestly, I think it will benefit everyone.
