托福口语 Task 2

Campus Announcement: Extended Library Hours During Finals Week. To better support students during final exams, the university library will extend its operating hours to 24/7 from December 10 to December 20. Additionally, the quiet study floors (3rd and 4th) will be reserved exclusively for individual study, while group study rooms will be available on the first floor. We encourage all students to utilize these extended hours and plan their study schedules accordingly.

M: Hey Sarah, did you see the announcement about the library being open all night during finals? I think it's a great idea. I often pull all-nighters, and last semester I had to leave at midnight when I was in the middle of studying. Now I can stay as long as I need. W: I see your point, but I'm actually not too happy about it. The extended hours mean more noise and distractions. Last year, when they tried 24-hour opening, the library got really crowded late at night, and people were chatting in the hallways. It was hard to concentrate, even on the quiet floors. M: But they're designating the third and fourth floors as quiet study only. That should solve the noise problem. W: Maybe, but that's exactly my second concern. By reserving those floors for individuals, group study rooms are now limited to the first floor, which is always noisy. My study group needs a quiet place to discuss, and we often use the third floor for that. Now we'll have to compete for the few group rooms on the first floor, which are usually booked solid. It's going to be really inconvenient. M: Hmm, I hadn't thought about that. For me, I usually study alone, so the extra quiet floors are perfect. But I can see why you're frustrated.
