📖 Reading Passage

The Construction of the Great Pyramid of Giza has long fascinated scholars, and many theories have been proposed to explain how ancient Egyptians moved and lifted massive stone blocks. One prominent theory suggests that the pyramid was built using a straight, external ramp. Proponents argue that such a ramp, made of mudbrick and limestone chippings, would have allowed workers to drag blocks on sledges up the pyramid's face. This method is plausible because it requires only simple tools and a large workforce, both of which were available. Additionally, the ramp could be extended and heightened as construction progressed, providing a continuous pathway. Finally, archaeological evidence, such as remnants of ramps at other pyramid sites, supports the feasibility of this approach. Therefore, the external ramp theory remains a convincing explanation for the pyramid's construction.
